Easter Egger Chicken
Originating in Chile, these chickens were originally domesticated by the Araucana indigenous group, namesake of the Araucana breed of chicken. The Easter Egger is similar to the Araucana and Ameraucana chicken. They have full beards under their beaks, opposed to just a tuft, and have a tail instead of being rumpless. This breed's plumage varies and does not have pure color types. Cackle breeds Easter Eggers with a full beard, a variety of feather colors and patterns, and a plethora of colorful eggs. The colors of these eggs vary from light blue, dark blue, green, and even brownish-pink. Their meat is delicious as well, as it has been noted to taste similar to quail. Easter Egg chickens are great backyard chickens due to their productivity of unique and delicious eggs and their hardiness in all weather. They aren't especially broody birds. They're very popular for their rainbow-colored eggs, meaning that the eggs come in a variety of shades of blue, green, brown, cream, and sometimes even pink. The Easter Eggers are an excellent backyard chicken flock breed because they have outstanding pet characteristics, are unique and visually diverse, and of course, they lay the exciting egg colors.
